Yesterday I met up with a friend and we talked camp details! Diana and I are going to spend 3 fabulous days together at Girls' Camp and we are SO excited! I chose the picture above because we went to tappy's. I am obsessed with tappy's. I get the exact same thing every single time and I love it.
Now on to my real post...
I spend all day with 11 year olds and it can be annoying, hilarious, frustrating, rewarding, and terrifying all in the same day. Never, ever dull. Ever. A few highlights from this week thus far:
During silent reading, I caught C sniffing his shoe. He had it completely off, held it in his hand, and was sniffing away. I called out his name and everyone turned to look at him. He froze in his tracks sniffs. The other kids laughed. I laughed. He asked me to make them stop. I asked him to stop sniffing his shoe.
During book club discussions, D and C (previously mentioned above) were discussing Freedom Crossing. I sat in on the discussion and asked C what he and the main character (Marty) have in common. C responded, "We both like to play." D hesitated, looked confused and responded, "Um. No. He is actually running from his master. Slave hunters are looking for him and he's trying to hide. So, he hasn't really played at all… he's just done a lot of running. No playing. Running."
I might be ready for summer…
